Vacation- Family Style

We are spending the week with family for our annual "Deer Valley/Park City Vacation". It is a great week where we do NOTHING we don't want and EVERYTHING we do want! I love it!!

It is always fun to shop down Park City Main Street. The shops and people are so interesting!

My hubby enjoyed shopping this time because it involved belly dancers for entertainment. (And boy was he entertained. I had to drag him away kicking and screaming. It was quite the scene I tell you:)

If there is one place that is "Green" it's definitely Park City. Here are the recycle containers and instructions for where to put what. Everything they were selling at this "Market On Main" was a green product. (Who knows, I may learn a thing or two).

It was Hubby-Bob's (not his real name) Birthday yesterday. He spent some time doing this.

And some time doing this. You have to take lots of naps when you are now half way to 88!
(He may just kill me for this pic and comment-but I can still outrun the old fart! heehee!)

Hope you are having a great week! I will be bringing you more from beautiful Deer Valley later.

Sappy Sentimental Sunday

Mine was a romance meeting that others only dream of. I never thought that I would meet the love of my life this way but it happened. It was a usual day for me. I was 17 years old and looking forward to my approaching high school graduation. Along with school and the various things associated with that, I was working at the retail powerhouse at that time.

I was feeling pretty powerful after being promoted from Register Operator, who found myself repeating "TYFSOK" over and over as customers came through my line, to Register Supervisor, who kept those twits in line and reminded them to say "TYFSOK" (Thank You For Shopping Our Kmart- for those less fortunate who have NOT had the opportunity to work at Kmart).

Little did I know that this particular night would prove to be different. There I was, being all cool and stuff and then I received a call from the Receiving Manager. He was a goofy kind of guy with a bad perm and side burns. He wore geeky shirts from the 70s it seemed and was a bit odd in my opinion. He asked me if we were busy up front and I told him we were not. He then asked me if I could send some help back to him. He needed some people to mark merchandise and unload boxes. His final words to me were "I would prefer if you sent some good looking girls back here. . . some blonde ones!". Was I hearing him correctly? When it all finally registered, I hung up on him! How could he insult me like that? I had now added JERK to the list of things I had previously thought of him. I was (am) a brunette and I was NOT going to let that blonde bozo tell me that I was NOT good looking because I had dark hair!

Let's just say this relationship WASN'T love at first sight and we didn't exchange any nice words to each other until that fateful night when I didn't have a ride home from work. He offered to take me home and so I went but ONLY because I was desperate to get home! We talked on the way home and although I still thought he was goofy and weird, he was also pretty darn funny. I remember arriving home, getting out of his truck quickly and telling my parent's that a goofy guy from work brought me home.

Little by little, his rides home from work became more frequent and his calls to me increased. This time it wasn't for the cute blondes but to see how I was or if I could go out. He was funny and charming and would do anything in the world for me. I loved that we were so different from each other but we appreciated those differences. We ended up dating for two years (while working at Kmart) before getting engaged. Let's just say my husband Bob (nope, not his real name) was my Blue Light Special! And I mean that in a good way!

Who ever said you can't find anything good at Kmart? Not me for sure. . . No "Kmart Fall apart" here!

Don't ever say that I don't ever give you anything completely romantic and sappy. This is as romantic as my life gets! Enjoy it already dang it! I'm not a writer. I know that shocks you:)

It Was a Day Of Much Celebrating!

Yeah, Okay I know. Tax season is officially OVER but I had to throw this picture in to say YIPEE!! I'm done with taxes for yet another year and there are no extensions filed, which means no taxes to do a bit later:) Can life really get much better than this? Tuesday was a great day as I mailed and E-filed the final returns and then went to lunch with a friend in celebration. (I'll find any reason to eat food you know). But while I was gone to eat, this was delivered to my house:

Actually, the only thing the delivery had in common with the above ad was that it was a mattress. It is a queen size mattress and a new one. I will make my own urine and slobber stains & smells alright? OK, that was gross and untrue. I will refrain from either. . if possible.

I have not had a new mattress for sooooooooooo long that I didn't realize they were supposed to be this soft, sturdy and comfortable and without the indent of my body in it. (and boy is my indent BIG:) My husband Bob (I told him that was his new internet name)and I are used to a king bed and mattress, so this queen thing is going to take some adjustment. I am a light sleeper and don't like ANY noise nor do I want anyone touching me, breathing on me or looking at me funny at any point. Yeah, now you are laughing that I downsized! Well, we had our first "new bed" night last night and I actually can say with a grin . . . . . I slept really bad and so did Bob. Don't ask me why I'm grinning. It is probably that I am delirious from lack of sleep! It's going to take a while to adjust to this all but I'm hopeful. Who needs sleep right? I figure, as long as I am comfy while I lay there awake I'm good! *sigh!*

In other good news, my Ty-Ty was in the bathroom brushing his teeth and proudly & loudly announced this to me. "Mom, the dog is potty trained!" In my head I start visualizing Ty holding the dog over the toilet as he went, so I responded "Oh he is? How is that?"
Ty yelled back "Well he came into the bathroom with me and lifted his leg right at the toilet and peed all over it! That makes him potty trained! He's a good dog huh mom! Should I go get him a treat?" All that I could say was "Sure thing honey". Sometimes it's just easier not to argue when you are dealing with a young child! Hope your day is filled with good news too!!

To Shave Or Not To Shave?. . That Is The Question.

My husband and I have had an ongoing battle over him shaving his facial hair. Personally I prefer a man with a nicely shaved face and even more if I have to kiss that face! There is just something very attractive and clean looking when a man has a shaved face. It's not only the looks that make me like "hairless" better. I tend to break out in a rash when I brush against his scruffy face. Seriously, I have only seen his face without hair just a handful of times in our 20 years of marriage. He has told me that he feels very insecure without facial hair because it somehow makes him appear as if he has a double chin. . . I think I'll show him this Easter self portrait so that he can see that it's his double chin that is making him look like he has a double chin. Hair or no hair, the chin is there! LOL! Check it out. I rhymed! :) I don't know, maybe I'm the weird one. Do you prefer your man scruffy or with a clean shave?

A Questionable Lunch Date?? I Question That.

After a few weeks hiatus from restaurants and such due to illness, I was able to convince my hubby to take me to lunch yesterday. I was craving Mexican food and so we headed off to our favorite, local family restaurant. I don't know if it was because it of the time of day we were there, but things were a bit different. We had a waitress come take our order and she was one we were familiar with from previous visits. I ordered a Diet Coke with my meal and she quickly and apologetically informed me that they were out of diet products. (had I known that I would have gone to the second favorite place!! ) I told her that I would just have water then. Seeing that she had already brought out a pitcher of water, I poured myself a glass as I munched on chips and salsa. Just then, she brought me out a large glass of ice water with a lime in it. I thanked her and quickly pushed my other drink to the side. She noticed that our chips were a bit low and offered to bring us more. My husband was about ready to dip his chip in salsa when she abruptly yanked it out from under him and told him she would be out with more. He was bugged! But he gets bugged easily. I on the other hand chuckled! When she brought out more, she asked "How is your water ma'am?" I was a bit taken back by the question. How was it supposed to be?? Like water?? Yep! It sure was! I don't know but I have never rated my water! Nor have I returned it for being too cold, too hot or something else unpleasant or unusual. I told her it was GREAT! Hubby and I had another good chuckle. She returned with our food and then had only walked away for about 3 seconds when she came over and asked "How is your food sir?" He hadn't even taken a bite but told her it was great! He was REALLY bugged at this point and I reminded him that she is trying REALLY hard to be a good waitress and therefore get a good tip! I would be over the top too if it meant more money!! (I can act for a price!!)

Like in most Mexican restaurants around here, there are Spanish speaking people working there. (sometimes NOT!) Anyway, those working there that day were all Spanish speaking and it was one of those times I desperately wished I spoke the language. They were standing only a few feet from us and were speaking very fast and with an angry tone it seemed. I was trying to figure out if these were family members all working this shift together. They would speak and the oldest one would loudly say "SSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" This continued on over and over and she would SSHHHHHHH them again, with a stern look on her face. I wondered what they were saying? Hubby and I were creating our own monologue and it was funny at times and yet a bit scary at other times! We pictured them saying something like "Those fools think we fed them beef but it was really dog!!" and then the oldest trying to quiet them! Or my husband thought our waitress was saying "Hee Hee, I totally spit in her water!! And she said it's great!" It all kind of freaked me out at the thought! I don't know what was really being said but it has motivated me to learn some Spanish (more than what I learned on Sesame Street) so that the next time I go, I am not completely in the dark! Fortunately, whatever they MAY have put in our food wasn't deadly because I am here today to write about it! No food poisoning at all!! Yipee!! (Sorry! the pic is of a Chinese Restaurant but it seemed so appropriate!)

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

OK, I am in flower H.E._._ today with a million orders at our floral.(I know you were probably unaware that there was a flower hell but there is!) But in a down moment and for entertainment, we reviewed a video that has my husband in it. It's on YouTube. I thought I would let him be a star for the day on my blog. He is the manager that gets called in at the end of the video and saves the day. (not really but it sounded good!) Nobody had better try to pull any crap over on him!! haha! I love you honey !!

Narcolepsy In Vegas Was Had By All!

We had a great time in Vegas but unfortunately we all seemed to have a random case of narcolepsy when the camera came out!! Actually, it was when we were sitting down to eat!

It happened at the Cheese Cake Factory, Jimmy Buffet's, The House of Blues and pretty much anywhere we stopped for food and a pic! From the looks of it we were all having SWEET dreams while we slept with those cheesy grins on our faces. I am sure we were dreaming of the fab food that was coming!! YUM! Yeah, I think that was it! Gary was having one of those "Cheeseburger In Paradise" dreams. I was dreaming of having my corn colored BIG teeth whitened and some wrinkles tightened!! (HOLY Hanna, I rhymed and didn't even try to!!) Hubby is dreaming of Scott and his cool hoodie and Amber is having a 60's flashback! She is at PEACE man! Other than an occasional moment of shut eye, we took it all in and had a great time!

OH THIS JUST REMINDED ME!

I saw this picture and I broke out in laughter. Of course, I only laugh at someone elses expense! If this had happened to me I WOULD NOT be laughing NOR would I share it with you! But being that it's about my hubby, here it is!! I got a call a few weeks ago from my husband, who was at work. He sounded a bit disturbed as he asked me if I had activated his credit card. I told him I had and then inquired as to why he needed it. He quietly told me that he had been working moving boxes with other management and when he bent over he heard a big riiiiiiiiiiiiiippp! He didn't feel anything and thought that the sound was coming from somebody else. He was about to join in the laughter when he realized that the laughter was directed at him. Everyone around him could see that he had ripped the entire rear of his pants out.

Well now, if you were me, what would you have done??. . . . .I did what any sweet wife would do and I laughed my guts out! Trying to talk (and not wet my pants) I reassured him I was not laughing at him but with him. (NOT!) He informed me that I was not alone in my outburst and he was dealing with it from every angle! My laughter soon turned to fear and I began questioning him as to whether he had on clean underwear or not? At this point, he was flat out disgusted I would even ask such a thing! Now if this were me under these circumstances, I would have quickly ran to the bathroom, called my other half and had them bring me some new pants regardless of the distance that separated the two of us. Apparently He was trying to be more thoughtful or maybe he had no pride left, because he told me that he was going to head over to Ross Dress For Less, which was just a few stores down. I asked how he was going to accomplish this with a big rip in his pants? He informed me that he had taken care of that and had not only untucked his shirt but had taken duck tape and nicely placed over the large tear. What in the heck? Like that isn't embarrassing? I let him continue to carry out his plan because frankly, it didn't bother me at all! Unfortunately for him, his embarrassing story has been retold (by me of course) over and over for everyone to enjoy and I thought "why leave you guys out?" . OK. . . .NOW Carry On!

I will never hear or see these words again the same as I once did! My dear, sweet husband (note the sarcasm!) likes to take random words or phrases (or people's names) and twist them up. He then repeats them every time he hears or sees the word, phrase or person. Are you familiar with this kind of behavior or is it just him? (Oh, I see, you've heard it from your toddler?) I don't know but now the above phrase automatically clicks in my head as "A breast of fresh A _ _!" Way to ruin a perfectly innocent and nice sounding phrase! And the bad part is that it's a phrase I hear OFTEN!! He does this with so many things and it drives me nuts in most ways and gets me laughing in a few ways! (brings the five year old out in me!!) I'm only bothered when I happen to accidentally repeat his "stuff"! Like, I can never address Marie Huff and Russ again! (inside joke that is too bad to reveal here if you don't already know it!) At least I can't address them without pausing first to get it right or without chuckling madly as I greet them. I guess it's just one of the perks of having a husband!!
Carry On!!

Uhhhh....Happy Valentines?????

I would swear (Ok, I did swear!) that Valentines Day is approaching very quickly, if I didn't know better. It seemed like today men were ordering up Valentine style arrangements for the one they love. What in the heck is up with that? Is there "Love" in the air? Are these men just true romantics? Or are they just cheap suckers trying to get bonus points without having to pay the big bucks for flowers?(Like they would during Valentines) I would like to think I know men well, since I'm married to one. (Actually, most days he is like another one of the kids!) But when it comes to men and their flower ordering habits or techniques, I am clueless. My husband isn't a flower ordering kind of guy. He blames that on the fact that I am a partner in a floral business and spend every day designing flower arrangements for others. Why would I want them at home? To be quite truthful, he didn't get me flowers BEFORE we opened the floral! What's up with that lame excuse?

Anyway, I was hoping that the buying of Valentine style arrangements and red roses wouldn't start until close to February because by the end of Valentines Day I am so sick of the colors and the flowers (besides being allergic to lilies) that I don't want to see them again!!! . . . . . At least not until the next day! (only because it's inevitable) I guess I had better buck up and accept the fact that I don't know what or why it's happening but "love" is already in the air (it may be frozen in the air here!). . . . and so are sales of red roses and such! Carry on you crazy man shoppers! Cha-ching! (Oh, don't worry Mom, I haven't started using baby's breath (aka Gyp) in your absence. It was a special request!! I don't want to ruin our reputation as a 99.9% Gyp free floral, which we have worked so hard to maintain. YIKES!)

Who REALLY Needs It?

Lo

I thought that we had finally done it! Hubby & I had finally broke "The Curse" he caused so many years ago......I can see now that I was wrong! It all started when Hubby and I were engaged and he was working in the Camera Dept. at Kmart. Kodak & Kmart were sponsoring a contest and the lucky name drawn would win a week long, all expenses paid, trip for two to Hawaii. Of course Hubs was not qualified to enter, being an employee, but for some strange reason this didn't stop him from filling out that slip and putting it into the box. It was all just for fun anyway and besides "what were the odds" he thought. It wasn't until he received a phone call at home from Kodak telling him he had better sit down because he was the LUCKY winner of the trip!! HOLY CRAP! He called me in complete shock and we both knew that there was no way to sneak around the rules.....He had done it! We would never win another contest again because our shot had been used up!! Our odds were NOT good now! haha! We were cursed!
Fast forward to 20+ years and I really thought that this time we were going to win a contest and a most delightful trip to Orlando. This trip was for BB Management and was a contest based on the fourth quarter figures and outcomes for 2007. They would be sending the management of the top 5 stores and their wives for a nice relaxing vacation to Florida. I didn't bat an eye when hubs told me about this. Nor did I get my hopes up when he would come home time after time during that quarter and tell me they were in the top five. I FINALLY thought we had a REALLY good chance when he came home the other day and told me they were in 2nd place and the contest was about over. I got the dreaded news last night that their store had slipped to 6th place by four measly points! WE HAD LOST AGAIN! I wouldn't be going to the place of a million dreams but would stay home in my bed of a few dreams and a whole lot of nightmares! OH well, who really needs it anyway? Don't those pictures above just say it all? I would rather freeze my buns off here than be in beautiful, tropical, sunny Florida any day! OK, OK. . . you all know me well enough to know that I am merely trying to convince myself of these things. What I really am thinking is "GET ME OUT OF THIS PLACE!!"
